I'm going to miss the summer. Where everywhere you look is life and warmth and sunlight. It seems like I spend all year waiting for it and then it just slips away from me. I'll especially miss the evenings.
Outside. Bare feet. Warm sidewalk. Quiet street. As we walked by the marshy area that leads to the lake, it smelled just like tomato plants.
The light outside this time of year from 7:30-9 pm is so deliriously beautiful. I don't own a camera with the power to do it any justice, but it's overwhelming to take in. All dusty and dreamy. Like the world was drenched in a caramely glaze. Delicious.

we camped.
We camped at what must be the most beautiful spot in Utah County.
Also the spot that I am most allergic to. But, still. Beautiful.
For whatever reason, I feel the need to explain that I was planning on bringing my real camera. But I forgot it. So I ended up having to document all of the breath-taking-ness with my phone and then my phone died and poor poor me blah blah blah.

warm nostalgia.

eyes wide open
through the night,
never enough sunlight.
sleeping through the morning
most everyday.
we greet a cloudless sky,
make our way outside.
we had one meeting place,
for a few months after May.
an unlicensed drive,
try to outrun our lives.
perfect song on repeat.
I couldn't tell
what it would mean to me.
but we kept up a decent pace,
for those few months after May.
you wonder if it will be this way.
next year, the next day.
wondering how long we'd last
on nothing but sun rays.
living only for the summer,
never counting days.
it wouldn't be this way.
but we kept it up like no one could,
for those few months after May.

who knows.
Someday I'm going to have a house that is covered in vines. Just like this. I really will. Watch me.
"My room and car aren't always clean. I don't typically put a great
amount of effort into 'getting ready' (hair, make up, etc.) I just figure
that the people who love me will love me either way. Maybe I'm not
trying to be beautiful, understood or liked at the moment. So what?
If you don't love me just because my face isn't shining like yours,
that's probably more your problem than mine."
I was just cleaning out my old email address today, and found the above paragraph hidden in my old drafts. I found it hilarious. Mostly because not much has changed over the years. Since, you know...
Unfortunately, my hair will never be this long and beautiful again. It just doesn't grow like that anymore. But at least my face is no longer in a perma-stoned expression at all hours of the day. Just FYI, I was never actually stoned. Really.
And, yes, I said "old" email address. Because we all created an email account when we were approximately 10-13 years old that we kept until it became much too embarrassing for us to do so anymore. (Mine had to do with The Lord of the Rings, of course.) Then we switched to Gmail, and use the old address to received additional free months of Netflix access and for giving to non-profit organizations when they ask if you want a newsletter and you feel like you'd be rude if you didn't say yes. You know what I mean. Don't even.
-Roxberry. Se-ver-al times a week. Because HEAT. Summertime makes me spend a stupid amount of money on cold fruity beverages and I don't even feel bad because I work full-time and that means I can afford to allow myself one superfluous habit. The trouble is, I allow myself a great amount more than one.
-Brownies. Mint ones. Because I've been giving into the demands of PMS since 2003.
This was nonsense.

the end.
The San Diego temple. Always a favorite.
Sorry 'bout muh face! It's just that we went to a baseball game, which was the first one I had ever sat through in my life. My hot dog and Coke and lemonade were gone and I was getting antsy.
Just gettin' our clogged arteries on at Phil's BBQ Pit! This place is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because, hello! Best BBQ EVER. Curse because, after you eat there no other BBQ you have will possibly measure up. So you have to wait until next year when you can eat it again. But that's probably a good thing, so that none of us have heart attacks.
Fin.

sunset.
You can't go somewhere with a beach without indulging in a sunset at said location. You just can't.
She says she thinks her face is "weird" in this picture, but it's my favorite! By the way, she's 15, not 25. I know, right? Crazy.
Hello, Drewsus.
Drew said that the sun looked like a big egg yolk. I agreed, and then thought about how disgusting that would be. A huge egg yolk in the sky. Yuck.

| Tessa would have loved this place! |
Apparently he sensed that this bird would have a sudden infatuation with his nipple. Go figure!
Oh, the beach! Sweet mercy! What is it about the beach. It's like the gravity that pulls the water to the shore also pulls pure bliss out of me. I love the beach. Magic.
They're pretty impressive boogie boarders. I? I am not. Not to say that I couldn't boogie board. It's just that the ocean terrifies me. Do not get confused. I was not lying when I said that I loved the beach. The ocean, on the other hand, I am not fond of. It's too full of...animals, and sea weed and well who knows what else?!
