neuroses

In my most humble opinion, Star Mill and the surrounding mini woods is the most beautiful place in American Fork.  It even has a little stream.  I love driving through it.  For a few moments, I feel like I'm in Ireland or some kind of enchanted forest.  So much charm.  I sure hope it stays this way, and isn't instead replaced with cookie-cutter houses or a strip mall, like everything else beautiful in this world.

Drew and I watched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in three days.  The extended versions, of course.  Because that's the only way to watch what I consider one of the most intricate and praise-worthy works of fiction ever.

It was a lazy weekend, to say the least, and we stayed up real late every night.  I did manage to get the floors clean, the apartment picked up, and the laundry almost all done, so I don't feel guilty for our indulgence.  Also, my brother and sister-in-law said the apartment "smells like fall," which has been my goal this whole entire season.  So obviously that made me pretty happy inside.

  1. Kudos on watching the entire LOTR series in 3 days - that is impressive! I did that once but it took me like a week. And of course, the extended versions are the only way to go.
I totally know what you mean about taking yourself too seriously. I do it too! It is so easy, with this selfish human nature of ours, to get lost in self-absorption sometimes. One of the nice things about having a child now is that I get to have someone totally dependent on me and to have to sacrifice some things to take care of her needs. It's a good teacher of patience and service. :)
It is difficult to not get discouraged in life, isn't it? But you are so right, life is all about learning, that's the whole reason we are here. Thanks for sharing this and helping remind me what's important. And by the way, I think you are one of the greatest people I know and I am so lucky to call you my friend. I love you Meg Mulvey!

    1. Amy, you are wonderful! Seriously, just hearing from you puts me in a better mood. And no worries, I teared up when I read this comment haha.

Having children is just essential for so many reasons, but I think the one you mentioned is by far one of the most important. It scares me to death to think about, but it's one of the best ways that we learn to set our own needs aside and serve! You have always been my best example, I love you right back.

I love reading what you have to say about what I had to say. Feel free to leave those thoughts here.
