I would recommend

These books:

First, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier.  I bought it a few weeks ago and read, or should I say consumed it, in about three days.  It's beautifully written, with poetic language and yummy imagery and has a juciy twist ending that I honestly would never have been able to guess myself.  I love a story that takes me by surprise.  It's reminiscent of Jane Eyre with its gothic tone and mystery, which is fine by me pretty much always.

Second, Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt. This one I'm still working on.  It's a completely different era and feel than Rebecca.  My brain had to travel from the early 1900's with a twenty-something narrator to the 1980's with a narrator who's still in high school. It took me a while to adjust, but I really love it so far.  Though, I have a feeling it's going to make me cry at some point, and I'm not sure I'm prepared.

I found both of these books in an online book club I joined called The Perks of Being a Book Addict on Goodreads.com.  It's really nice because you get great book recommendations but aren't obligated to go to any meetings or talk or do anything at all!  A book club for lazy people.  Feel free to join!

This movie:

Austenland
I do not remember the last time I laughed so loud in a movie theater.  Maybe it was because I went with one of those friends who's totally fine with whispering and giggling and annoying everyone around you for the whole entire movie.  But seriously.  Hilarious.  I will own this movie and watch it over and over again anytime I need a pick-me-up.  But do your husband/man friend a favor and don't make him watch it with you.  I think that may be considered a form of torture.

This Song:

R U Mine? By the Arctic Monkeys.  Because, yes.

    1. I hope you like it! And if you don't, just don't tell me because that would be embarrassing...

  3. Can I borrow them books? I must join that book club. It's exactly what I need! I must admit, I don't like the attic monkeys. I've tried multiple times. Is that okay? Haha

    1. haha! Yes, that's perfectly okay. I honestly don't even know them that well, I'm just pretty into their newest album. But I still love you more so it's fiiine. And yes. You can borrow any of my books. Which is a big deal for me because I don't really lend my books out to anyone because they usually never come back. But I know you'll give them back. Okay, rambling.

    1. That's why I like to share my reads, it can be so difficult to find good books. Even though there are millions. It gets overwhelming, at least for me!

  5. I love love love Rebecca. It's about time for me to reread that one. I read it in the 10th grade and I stayed up all night on a Tuesday and tore through it. I love dark gothic novels like these. So good.

I've seen the other book at work a lot at Barnes and Noble and it's about time I finally get it for myself.

    1. Wait...you work at Barnes and Noble?? That's SO cool! Which location? Do you like it? I mean, obviously retail isn't the best but I've always thought that might be fun for a part-time gig.

Anyway, I'm so glad someone else knows Rebecca! I loved it so much.

  7. I've never heard of either of those books but I'm going through a reading drought so I'll have to check them out, especially the gothic/romantic Rebecca since Halloween is coming up and I try to keep my reading in tune with the holidays. :) If you're ever looking for a good book you should check out this woman's blog. http://thestorygirlbookreviews.blogspot.com/ She gives very thorough reviews although I have no idea how she makes time to read as much as she does because her degrees are in neuroscience and nursing so it's not like she's a librarian or teacher and does it as part of her job. Had you read Austenland before seeing the movie?

    1. Rebecca definitely works with halloween if you're someone like me who can only handle scary if it isn't that scary! But really, loved that book. I hope you enjoy it if you read it.

I saw on your blog that you read "Delirium." Did you like it? I've been considering it.

Thank you for the blog recommendation! I'm definitely a follower now.

I love reading what you have to say about what I had to say. Feel free to leave those thoughts here.
