5 year plan.

Birthday sushi!

After Drew and I got married, we acquired a few house plants.  We decided that if we could keep ourselves alive while keeping these plants alive for at least six months, we'd consider getting a cat.

The eight month mark came along.  We're still alive.  We've gotten the hang of grocery shopping and panini-making and packing lunches and doing laundry.  (That is, when our apartment complex washing machines don't disappear out of nowhere for weeks at at time.) And the plants?  Still flourishing in their pots.  Needless to say, we're pretty proud of ourselves.

This was exciting as well because it meant that we could finally fulfill our wildest dreams and get a cat.  Really though, we love cats.  We planned on going to a bunch of different shelters to find the perfect kitty.  As it turned out, we ended up going to just one shelter.  And leaving with the first cat we saw.

Meet Boba.
My favorite thing?  Her pink nose.
And if we can keep her alive for about four years, we'll maybe consider having actual children.  But no guarantees.

    1. Isn't is the best thing? Only for special occasions because of the cost, but there is nothing like sushi!

  2. My heavens that cat is adorable! And I can't thank you enough for going to a shelter to get a cat. Working at a shelter, I know that most cats will not get adopted and its really, really sad. It looks like you had a great birthday!

    1. I was seriously so sad, Trisha! They were all so sweet and I wanted to take them all home! And I totally thought of you when I went there, you and your Zebra co-workers. A shelter just seemed like the logical thing to do, those poor kitties.

    2. Its so hard not to take them all home. Why do you think I have 4 pets?! I just can't say no to their sad faces. Yes, my old Zebra Co-workers. They don't even call them that anymore! I was a little mad when I found out. Lame.

  4. I don't even like cats and I think yours is really cute. I agree, her pink nose is adorable. That's so cool you got her from a shelter! You literally most likely saved her life!

P.s. I respect your thought process with a plant working up to a cat and then maybe even a baby but I have killed numerous house plants and kept a child alive for 1 year and 5 days! Ha ha yay me! Also thanks so much for your sweet comments!

    1. Thanks! She's the best. Except for this morning when she pounced on my throat. Really nice way to wake up! She's 4 months.
